Traulo Terms of Service
Effective · version 10 · Previous versions
What changed in version 10
Updated for the Plans tab. §2 now describes private trip plans, AI trip planning, planning together, walks and trails, community places and the live trip view. New §4.9 covers planning together (invites, roles, what members see and can change). New §4.10 covers walks, trails, huts and maps: route data comes from OpenStreetMap and other sources, conditions change, and you decide whether a route is safe for you. §6 covers AI trip planning and says AI-written text is marked. New §8.10 explains booking a hotel inside your plan: our booking partner Nuitée (LiteAPI) takes the payment and books the hotel; the total price and anything payable at the property are shown before you pay; prices depend on your plan; the cancellation terms govern refunds; there is no 14-day withdrawal right for dated accommodation; we are your first point of contact for help. New §4.8 covers the community index of places. §15 replaces the closed EU ODR platform with out-of-court dispute resolution. §4.4: accounts created from this version's effective date start with a public profile; keeping a profile private is part of a subscription (older accounts are unchanged).
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a contract between you and:
Računalniške storitve REK, Mihael Rek s.p. Ulica heroja Jevtiča 5, 2000 Maribor, Slovenia Matična številka: 7412037000 · Davčna številka: 89184882 Contact: [email protected]
(referred to as "Traulo", "we", "us" or "our") and govern your use of the Traulo mobile application and the website at www.traulo.com (together, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You may use the Service if you are 15 years of age or older. This is the digital-consent age in Slovenia under ZVOP-2 (implementing GDPR Article 8). If you are between 15 and 18 you have full legal capacity to use the Service, but Slovenian Civil Code (OZ) may require parental authorisation for purchases. By making a purchase, you represent that you have the legal capacity (or parental authorisation, where required) to do so.
You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under any applicable law.
2. The Service
Traulo is an iOS application, with a companion website at www.traulo.com, that:
- Reads photos and videos from your camera roll (with your permission)
- Selects and orders clips automatically using on-device computer vision and an AI editorial step
- Suggests music tracks (sourced from a Creative Commons-licensed music catalogue)
- Composes a vertical (9:16) short vlog of 30 to 59 seconds and exports it back to your camera roll
- Optionally backs up rendered vlogs to our cloud storage — every account includes 1 GB free for vlogs you share publicly, and paid plans add private backup and more room (see §8.7)
- Provides a public profile page at
www.traulo.com/@<handle>for users who choose to make their profile public — displaying their handle, display name, avatar, vlog count, follower count, following count, and any vlogs they have individually marked as public (profiles of accounts created on or after the effective date of these Terms are public by default; older accounts keep private by default, see §4.4) - Enables you to follow other users, build a follower list, and discover public vlogs
- Shows you a ranked feed of public vlogs and trip guides — from the people you follow and the places you travel — ordered automatically rather than chronologically (see §4.7)
- Provides an Explore section: a 3D globe of public posts, collections browsable by trip type, trip length, country and place, and a public "Top travellers" ranking of accounts whose profiles are public
- Automatically selects a weekly "Editor's choice" set of already-published public guides to feature in Explore, and notifies the creators whose guides are chosen
- Lets you heart (like) public vlogs created by other users
- Lets you comment on public vlogs and reply to comments, and lets other users comment on your public vlogs
- Lets you tag other Traulo users as companions on a trip ("co-tagging") and lets others tag you, so that each tagged participant can contribute their own point-of-view (POV) vlog of the same trip
- Groups co-tagged participants into a trip group, so the different POV vlogs of a single trip can be discovered and viewed together
- Lets you generate and share companion stat cards (for example, "You & @handle") that summarise trips you and another user took together
- Lets you create and publish trip plans and guides — structured, shareable travel itineraries (days, places, routes, photos and notes) built from your trips, which other users can view, save, and use as the starting point for their own ("remix") guides (see §4.6 and §8.8)
- May show optional booking suggestions (such as stays, flights, activities, transfers or eSIM data plans) and other travel links inside trip guides; these come from third-party travel partners and some are affiliate links from which we may earn a commission (see §8.9)
- Lets you keep private trip plans — dates, days, places, nights, notes, costs and bookings — that only you and the people you invite can see, including plans you start from a published guide (see §4.6)
- Can draft or improve a trip plan with AI from what you ask for, as a suggestion you review and edit (see §6)
- Lets you plan a trip together with people you invite, each with a role that decides what they can change (see §4.9)
- Shows walks, trails, huts and mountain routes near your plan, with distances and heights worked out from map and terrain data, and links to huts' own websites (see §4.10)
- Offers a live trip view that, if you allow it, uses your phone's location on the device to show where you are on today's route and what comes next (see Privacy Policy §2.3)
- Lets you book a hotel stay inside your own trip plan through our booking partner, with the total price, the room and the cancellation terms shown before you pay (see §8.10)
- Builds a community index of places from the places that published guides stop at, so other travellers can find them on the map, see how many published guides and public vlogs went there, and add one to a plan of their own, credited to the guide that published the place first (see §4.8)
- Allows other users to follow you, view your public profile and heart your public vlogs, if your profile is public
The exact features, plan limits and entitlements are described inside the app and on www.traulo.com. We may add, change or remove features over time. We will give you reasonable notice for material changes that reduce the functionality you paid for.
3. Your account
To use the Service you create an account using Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or another supported method. You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate information
- Keeping the credentials of your sign-in provider safe
- All activity that happens under your account
One person, one account. Don't share your account or use someone else's. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately at [email protected].
4. Your content; the licence you grant us
4.1 You own your content
The photos, videos, captions and other media you upload or generate through the Service (your "Content") remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
4.2 The licence you grant us
To deliver the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to:
- Store your Content on our infrastructure
- Process and transcode it (including running computer vision, deduplication, and AI editorial steps)
- Render vlogs from it
- Display it back to you on your devices
- Make backups for reliability
This licence is solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you. It ends when you delete the Content or your account, except for backups in the rotation cycle (which expire within 30 days) and for any copies that we are required by law to retain.
If you make your profile public or mark individual vlogs as public, the licence above additionally extends to: (a) displaying your public profile and public vlogs to all Traulo users and to any unauthenticated visitor of www.traulo.com/@<handle>; and (b) allowing other Traulo users to heart your public vlogs and share links to them. This additional licence lasts only for as long as your profile or vlog remains public. Profiles and vlogs are private by default. You may revert to private at any time in Settings → Account → Profile visibility, and we will cease displaying your content to non-followers immediately.
4.3 You are responsible for your content
You confirm that you own — or have all necessary rights, licences and permissions for — every piece of Content you put into the Service, including:
- Any copyrighted material (photos, video footage, music)
- The likenesses and personal data of any people who appear in your Content
- Any location, place or premises depicted
You are responsible for the legality of your Content. You will not upload Content that infringes the rights of others, that is illegal, or that you do not have the right to upload.
4.4 Public profile and visibility controls
If you created your account on or after the effective date of these Terms, your profile is public by default, and keeping your profile private is part of a paid subscription (either plan). If your account existed before that date, your profile stays private by default and you can switch it between public and private at any time, on every plan. You change it in Settings → Account → Profile visibility. Deleting a vlog, or your whole account, is possible at any time on every plan.
When your profile is public, the following is visible to all Traulo users and to any unauthenticated visitor of the web:
- Your handle, display name and avatar
- Your vlog count, follower count and following count
- Any vlogs you have individually marked as public
When your profile is private:
- Your profile page at
www.traulo.com/@<handle>is not publicly accessible; visitors see a not-found page. - Only confirmed followers can view your vlogs within the Service.
- You remain findable by handle via in-app search by users who already follow you or who have interacted with you.
You remain responsible for any content you make public. Before making a vlog public you should ensure you have all necessary rights and consents for any people depicted in it and for any third-party material it contains (see §4.3). You are also responsible for ensuring that making yourself publicly findable by handle is consistent with your personal safety circumstances.
4.5 Social interactions: following and hearts
Following. When you follow another user, they are not required to approve the follow (unless they have enabled follower approval — see in-app settings). A follow establishes a one-way subscription: you will see their public vlogs in your feed. You may unfollow at any time; the other user is not notified of an unfollow.
Hearts. Tapping the heart on a public vlog signals appreciation to the creator. The creator sees the aggregate heart count. We do not currently show the creator which accounts have hearted their vlog, and hearts are not visible to third parties beyond the aggregate count.
Blocking. You may block any other user at any time in their profile. Blocking removes any existing follow relationship, prevents the blocked user from viewing your profile, following you, or seeing your vlogs within the Service, and is not visible to the blocked user. You may unblock at any time. We enforce blocks within the Service; we cannot prevent a blocked user from accessing content you share publicly outside the Service (for example, a direct URL you post on a third-party platform).
Comments. You may post comments on public vlogs, and other users may comment on your public vlogs. A comment is visible to anyone who can see the vlog it is attached to. You are responsible for the comments you post — they must comply with the acceptable-use rules in §9. You may delete your own comments at any time, and as the creator of a vlog you may delete any comment on your own vlog and turn comments off for that vlog. We may remove comments that violate these Terms, and we may notify a creator when someone comments on their vlog.
Tagging companions and shared trips (co-tagging). You may tag other Traulo users as companions on a trip, and other users may tag you. Tagging another user invites them to contribute their own point-of-view (POV) vlog of the same trip; co-tagged participants are grouped into a trip group so the trip's POV vlogs can be discovered and viewed together. You may only tag a user as a companion on a trip you genuinely took together. Each participant controls their own POV vlog and the visibility of their own contribution, may decline or remove a tag, and may leave a trip group at any time; doing so removes their POV vlog and their participation from the shared trip. A trip and its companion tags become publicly visible only to the extent each participant has made their own contribution public.
Companion stat cards. The Service can generate shareable summary cards (for example, "You & @handle") describing trips you and another user took together. When you create and share such a card you are responsible for sharing it appropriately; the card may include the other participant's handle, display name and avatar and aggregate trip statistics.
4.6 Trip guides: saving, remixing and attribution
When you publish a trip guide, you make it public: other users can view it, save it to their own collection, and create their own guide inspired by yours (a "remix"). Where a guide is built from yours, we may display attribution that links the new guide back to yours. For as long as your guide stays published, the licence in §4.2 extends to displaying the guide and this attribution to other users. Saving a guide does not transfer ownership of your Content — it simply lets the other user keep a reference to, and build their own plan from, your public guide. The permanence of a published guide (it stays up after your subscription ends or its source vlog is deleted) is described in §8.8; you can edit, unpublish or delete it at any time.
Starting a private plan from a guide. Another user may start a private plan from your published guide. Their plan then contains a copy of the guide's itinerary — its days, places, descriptions and links — shows your handle as the guide it came from, and displays your stop photos by pointing at your published guide rather than copying them, so a photo you withdraw from your guide also disappears from their plan. By publishing a guide you allow every user to make such a copy and to adapt it for planning and taking their own trip; this permission is non-exclusive and free, it survives for copies already made if you later unpublish, and it does not let anyone republish your text as their own guide without the attribution described above. We do not tell you who started a plan from your guide. (Taking a single place from the community index is different — only the place travels; see §4.8.)
4.7 Ranking, discovery and Editor's choice
Your feed is ranked, not chronological. The order in which public vlogs and guides reach you is decided automatically — from who you follow, where you have travelled, how posts perform with viewers generally, and your own viewing activity. Privacy Policy §2.4 and §4 describe the signals and how long we keep them.
Public content can be ranked and featured. If your profile is public, aggregate statistics derived from your own public vlogs — the number of distinct countries and places you have posted from — may place you in the public "Top travellers" ranking in Explore. If your profile is private you are never listed. You may leave the ranking at any time by switching your profile back to private, or by asking us at [email protected] to exclude your account while keeping it public.
Editor's choice. We may select a guide you have already published publicly and feature it in Explore, on the globe and in the feed, together with your handle, display name and avatar, and we may generate and display a short one-line blurb for it. Featuring is at our discretion: you are not entitled to be featured, and being featured once creates no expectation of being featured again. We may withdraw a feature at any time and may correct or replace a blurb. Unpublishing or deleting a guide removes it from any feature. Being featured changes neither the ownership of your Content (§4.1) nor the licence you grant us (§4.2), and no fee is paid for it.
4.8 Places from published guides
What a published guide contributes. When a guide is published, the individual places it stops at — the name of the place, its coordinates and its category (a restaurant, a viewpoint, a trailhead) — become part of a community index of places that Traulo travellers have actually been to. Other users see those places on the map and in search while planning a trip nearby, and can add one to a plan of their own. For as long as your guide stays published, the licence in §4.2 extends to showing the places it contains to other users in this way.
Only the place travels. What another user's plan receives is the place itself: its name, its position and its category. Your photographs, your notes and descriptions, your times, your route, and everything in your own private plan stay with you and are never copied into anyone else's plan. A place is a fact about the world, not a piece of your writing — nothing you wrote moves.
We credit whoever published a place first. When another user adds one of these places to their plan, we record — and may display — a link back to the guide that published that place first, not to the guide that happens to be the most saved. Where two guides published the same place, the earlier publication is the one credited. This is a commitment about how the Service behaves: we will not quietly re-point the credit at a more popular guide.
Unpublishing. If you unpublish or delete your guide it leaves the community index: it stops contributing places, and it stops being credited on new copies. Plans that already contain a place keep it — the place exists independently of your guide — but the credit no longer points at a guide you have taken down.
The index itself is ours. The community index is a database we assemble and maintain. You may use it to plan your own trips inside the Service. You may not extract or re-use a substantial part of it outside the Service — systematically, by scraping, or by any automated means. This restriction is on the index as a compilation; it does not affect your rights in your own Content under §4.1.
4.9 Planning together
Inviting people. You can invite people to a private plan you own, either directly or by sharing an invite link. Anyone who has the link can see the plan's title, dates and your handle and display name, and can join with the role the link carries, until the link expires (30 days) or you revoke it — so share it only with people you mean to invite. Each member has a role: view (see the plan), suggest (also propose ideas and vote) or edit (also change the plan, add costs and book stays for it). You can change a member's role or remove a member at any time, and any member can leave.
What members see. Members see each other's handle, display name and avatar, the plan and everything added to it — days, places, notes (with who wrote them), ideas and votes, photos (with who added them), costs, splits and settlements, and bookings made for the plan (the hotel, the dates and the price, never the booking holder's or guests' contact details). Members do not see your email address. Changes are recorded in the plan's history with who made them, so they can be shown and undone; this history is kept for 90 days.
What you add is your responsibility. Everything you add to a shared plan must comply with §4.3 and §9. If you add a way to be paid (for example a payment link), you choose to show it to every member. Costs and settlements are records, not payments: Traulo does not move money between members and is not responsible for whether or how members pay each other.
Leaving and removal. When you leave or are removed, you lose access to the plan; what you added stays in the plan as part of the trip, shown as coming from a former member. A booking made for the plan remains the booking of the member who made it (§8.10).
4.10 Walks, trails, huts and maps
Where the information comes from. Walks, trails, huts, mountain routes, heights, distances, walking times and weather in the Service are compiled automatically from third-party data — including OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence), terrain elevation models and weather forecasts — and from what other travellers have published. We show it to help you plan; we do not survey, verify or maintain any route, and the data can be incomplete, out of date or wrong.
You decide what is safe. Mountain and outdoor conditions change quickly. Before and during a walk, check the route, the weather, closures, avalanche and other official warnings, the opening of huts and your own fitness and equipment, and follow local rules and signs. Difficulty grades and times are estimates. In an emergency, call 112 (or the local emergency number).
Huts. Where a hut publishes a website or booking page in OpenStreetMap, we link to it. These links are not affiliate links and the hut or its operator — not Traulo — decides availability, prices and terms; any booking you make there is between you and them (§13).
This Section does not limit our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited (§14).
5. Apple's End User Licence Agreement
The Traulo iOS app is licensed to you (not sold) under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "LAEULA"), which you can read at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. These Terms supplement the LAEULA. Where these Terms and the LAEULA conflict, the stricter provision applies. You acknowledge that the LAEULA is concluded between you and Apple, and that we — not Apple — are responsible for the Service and its content.
You and we both agree that Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with respect to the LAEULA, and may enforce these Terms against you accordingly.
6. AI-generated content
Traulo uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude model) to suggest how your vlog should be composed — which clips to feature, what tone to use, what captions to draft — and to draft trip-guide text. These are suggestions only; you control the final composition and can override any AI choice before exporting. AI is also used to write the one-line blurb displayed with an Editor's-choice pick (§4.7); that blurb is ours, not yours, and we may edit or remove it.
AI trip planning. You can ask the Service to draft a trip plan — places, days, nights and a route — from what you type and choose, or to improve an existing plan. A drafted or improved plan is a suggestion: places may be closed, seasonal, mis-located or unsuitable, and travel times and prices are estimates. Check anything that matters (opening times, safety, bookings, access) before you rely on it. A draft uses AI credits from your plan's monthly allowance as shown in the app before you start; if a draft fails or comes back empty, the credits are returned. Do not type health or other sensitive details into a request (Privacy Policy §2.14).
In line with EU AI Act Article 50, we tell you here, transparently, that AI is used in this Service to generate editorial suggestions for vlogs and guides, to draft and improve trip plans, and to write Editor's-choice blurbs. The feed and Explore rankings themselves are produced by a deterministic scoring algorithm, not by a language model. If you publish a guide that contains AI-drafted text, you publish it as your own and are responsible for it under §4.3.
We do not warrant that AI suggestions will be accurate, complete, fit for any particular purpose, or free of bias. AI output is best-effort. You are responsible for reviewing your vlog, plan or guide before relying on it or publishing it anywhere.
7. Music licensing
Music tracks suggested by the Service are licensed under permissive Creative Commons terms (typically CC BY 4.0, CC BY-SA, or CC BY-ND). Each track's title, artist and licence are shown in the app — tap the music label on any vlog to see the credit and a link to the full licence terms.
When you publish a vlog elsewhere (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc.), the licence of the music track travels with it. You are responsible for complying with that licence, including the artist attribution and license link required by Creative Commons.
Some Creative Commons licences impose additional obligations on derivative or commercial use (e.g. CC BY-SA requires share-alike licensing of the resulting work; CC BY-ND prohibits modifications). The licence of each track is the authoritative source — read it before reusing a vlog commercially.
8. Purchases, billing and refunds
8.1 Apple is the merchant of record
In-app purchases — auto-renewing subscriptions (Traveler / Daily Vlogger) and one-time consumable AI vlog packs (10 / 20 / 100) — are processed by Apple. Apple — not we — is the merchant of record. Apple collects the payment, charges any applicable VAT, issues the receipt, and processes refunds. We never see your payment card details.
8.2 RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to mediate purchase state between Apple and our backend. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous user identifier and your subscription status (for subscriptions) or purchase record (for one-time packs), but no payment details. For one-time packs, RevenueCat records the purchase and our backend credits the corresponding AI-vlog quota to your account.
8.3 Auto-renewal (subscriptions only)
Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period through your Apple ID settings. Cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund the current period. One-time AI vlog packs do not auto-renew and have no recurring charge — they are billed once and grant a fixed quantity of AI vlogs that remain available in your balance until used.
8.4 Refunds
Refunds for in-app purchases are governed by Apple's standard refund policy. To request a refund, please contact Apple Support at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not process refunds directly because we do not collect the payment. This applies equally to subscription charges and one-time pack purchases.
8.5 Right of withdrawal — and your express waiver
Under Slovenian Consumer Protection Act (ZVPot-1) Article 134 you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts for digital content. Article 135 of ZVPot-1 allows you to waive this right where the digital content is delivered before the 14-day period expires.
By starting to use the digital content (activating an entitlement, downloading a vlog, using AI quota, redeeming a one-time AI vlog pack, etc.), you expressly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal. This is the standard posture for Apple in-app purchases and is surfaced to you by Apple at the moment of purchase as well.
This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights to a refund of defective digital content under ZVPot-1.
8.6 Price changes
We may change the price of any subscription or one-time AI vlog pack at any time. Every price change is implemented through Apple's App Store and is subject to the following:
- New purchases. A changed price applies to any purchase, subscription started, or pack you buy after the change takes effect. The current price is always shown to you in the app and is confirmed by Apple before you complete any purchase.
- Existing subscriptions. A price increase never applies to a billing period you have already paid for. For an auto-renewing subscription, a price increase takes effect only from the start of your next renewal period. Where Apple requires it, Apple notifies you in advance and — for increases above Apple's thresholds — asks for your consent before the higher price applies; if you do not consent, your subscription simply does not renew at the new price.
- One-time AI vlog packs. A price change has no effect on packs you have already purchased; any quota already credited to your account remains usable.
- Your choice. You can review the current price at any time and, before a price increase takes effect, you can cancel an auto-renewing subscription through your Apple ID settings. This Section does not limit your mandatory rights as a consumer under Slovenian and EU law (ZVPot-1), including your right to clear, advance information about price changes for ongoing contracts.
8.7 Free cloud storage, and what happens when a subscription ends
Every account includes 1 GB of cloud storage at no cost, for vlogs you share publicly. The free allowance applies to vlogs that are set to public on a profile that is itself public — the vlogs other people can discover and watch in Traulo. As long as a vlog stays within that public gigabyte, we do not delete it, whether or not you have ever paid us. Private cloud backup is part of paid plans (currently 5 GB on Traveler and 50 GB on Daily Vlogger, both of which can also store private vlogs); without a paid plan, vlogs you keep private simply remain on your device and are not uploaded.
Because the free allowance exists for public sharing, a vlog stored under it stays public while it is in our cloud, and the profile hosting it stays public too. You always have two ways out, at any time: subscribe (your vlogs can then be private and stay backed up), or download the vlog to your device and remove it from the cloud (from the vlog's own menu, or Settings → Account for all of them at once). Removing a vlog from the cloud deletes our copy — including its hearts and comments — but never touches the copy on your device. (Content we restrict under these Terms may be hidden from public view without being deleted; it still counts toward your allowance until you delete it.)
If a paid subscription lapses, is cancelled and then expires, or is downgraded, your storage allowance drops back to the free 1 GB, which applies to public vlogs only. We then keep your public vlogs, newest first, up to that gigabyte — so links you have shared, and guides other people have saved, keep working. Everything else — public vlogs above the allowance and all private vlogs — is soft-deleted: hidden from your feed but recoverable, and permanently erased 30 days later. We warn you when this starts, again 7 days before erasure, and again 1 day before. If you resubscribe within those 30 days, the soft-deleted vlogs are restored.
If you created your account on or after the effective date of these Terms and your subscription ends, you cannot switch your profile to private until you subscribe again. What happens to your cloud vlogs is described above.
Vlogs saved on your device are never affected, and you can download your cloud vlogs to your device at any time — including during those 30 days (Settings → Account → Download all). See the Privacy Policy, section 7, for the corresponding retention detail.
8.8 What happens to your published trip guides
A trip guide you publish from a vlog is a public, self-contained guide that other people can view and save. Unlike a cloud vlog, a published trip guide is kept and stays publicly available even after your subscription ends or after you delete its source vlog. When the source vlog is removed, its original video is no longer playable, but the written guide — the itinerary, route, places, photos and text — remains. You stay in control of it: you can edit, unpublish, or permanently delete a published guide at any time from the guide itself. Deleting only the source vlog does not remove an already-published guide — to take a guide down, delete the guide.
8.9 Booking suggestions and affiliate links
Inside trip guides we may show booking suggestions and travel links — for example accommodation, flights, activities, airport transfers or eSIM data plans — provided by third-party travel partners. These are generated automatically from a guide's destinations (and, for flights, from the major airports nearest your home region). They are recommendations, not endorsements; prices and availability are set and shown by the partner, not by us. The same applies to links to huts and other places' own websites (§4.10), which are not affiliate links.
Some of these are affiliate links. If you book or buy through one, we may earn a commission, at no additional cost to you — the price you pay is the partner's normal price. We disclose this relationship here in the interest of transparency.
Any booking or purchase you make through such a link is a contract solely between you and the third-party provider, governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy. We are not a party to it and are not responsible for the provider's products, services, prices, availability, fulfilment, cancellations or handling of your data. When you tap a booking link you leave Traulo and the provider's website or app takes over. How we handle data in this flow is described in the Privacy Policy (§2.10 and §5); the related disclaimers are in §13.
8.10 Booking a stay through Traulo
Inside a trip plan you may be able to book a hotel room without leaving the app.
Who is who.
- The hotel (or other property) is a trader that provides the accommodation. The contract for the stay is between you and the hotel, on the terms shown before you pay. EU consumer law applies to it.
- Nuitée Ltd (LiteAPI), an Irish company, is our booking partner. It takes your payment as the merchant (through its payment provider, Stripe), places the booking with the hotel in your name, and processes cancellations and refunds under its booking terms, which are shown before you pay.
- Traulo presents the offer, collects the details the booking needs, passes them to Nuitée, and keeps the booking in your plan. Traulo is not the hotel and not the merchant and does not take your payment. We are responsible for presenting the room, the price and the terms accurately (§13), not for the stay itself.
Before you pay, we show you the property, the room and what is included, the dates and number of guests, the total price in the currency you pay in, the cancellation terms, and any taxes or fees the property says are payable on site (for example a city tax), which are not part of the total. There are no further charges from us after you pay.
Prices depend on your Traulo plan. Our service margin is included in the price. It is lower on paid plans, so the same room can cost a subscriber less; where we show a crossed-out price it is the price without a Traulo plan. Prices are not personalised on the basis of your behaviour or any other profiling.
How results are ordered. Rooms and properties are listed by distance from the place you search around, with the options you choose (dates, guests, filters) applied. Nobody pays us to be shown higher.
Cancellation and refunds. The cancellation terms shown before you pay — a free-cancellation deadline, a cancellation fee, or "non-refundable" — govern any refund. You can cancel from the plan; before you confirm a cancellation we show you the cancellation terms that apply to it. Refunds are made by Nuitée's payment provider to the card you paid with. We never cancel a booking on your behalf, and a booking can be cancelled only by the member who made it.
No right of withdrawal. Under ZVPot-1 and Article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU, the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to accommodation booked for a specific date or period. The cancellation terms above apply instead.
Your details and your card. The booking holder's name, email and optional phone, the guests' names, and the ages of any children are passed to Nuitée and the hotel to hold the room in your name; we do not keep the holder's or guests' contact details on our servers (Privacy Policy §2.12). Your card is never seen by Traulo — it is entered into Nuitée's PCI-compliant payment form embedded on www.traulo.com.
Booking for a shared plan. A member with the edit role can book a stay for a shared plan (§4.9). The member who books is the booking holder and the one in the contract; the other members see the booking in the plan but not the holder's or guests' contact details.
A single travel service. A hotel booked through Traulo is one travel service. It is not a package, and we do not offer you any other travel service in connection with it, so it is not a linked travel arrangement within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2015/2302. Other travel links in a guide (§8.9) are independent suggestions from other providers; if you book one, it is a separate contract with that provider and the protections for packages and linked travel arrangements do not apply.
Creator share. When you book from a published guide, part of our margin is paid to the guide's creator. This does not change your price and the creator never learns who booked.
Sandbox bookings. While the feature is being tested, a booking marked "Sandbox — no real charge" is a test with no room and no payment. A real booking is never marked sandbox.
If you need help. We are your first point of contact for anything about a booking made through Traulo: write to [email protected] (or use the help option on the booking, where the app offers one) with the booking reference. We take the matter up with Nuitée and, through it, with the hotel, and we tell you what happens. Where we show the property's own contact details with your booking, you can also contact the property directly. Tell us about a problem with the stay as soon as you can — ideally during your stay, and no later than 10 days after check-out — because the booking partner's window for raising complaints with the hotel is short. Your rights against the hotel and against the merchant under consumer law are unaffected.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload Content — including comments — that is illegal, infringes third-party rights, depicts non-consensual intimate imagery, depicts the abuse of minors, or incites violence or hatred against any person or group
- Use the Service — including following, hearting, commenting, tagging companions, blocking or any future messaging feature — to harass, intimidate, stalk, threaten or abuse any other user
- Tag another user as a companion on a trip they did not take part in, or use tagging to associate a person with content without a genuine basis
- Impersonate any real person, entity or brand in your handle, display name, avatar or any other profile field
- Use automated means (bots, scripts, purchased services or any coordinated inauthentic behaviour) to artificially inflate follower counts, heart counts or any other engagement signal
- Follow or unfollow users in bulk for the purpose of drawing attention to your profile, manipulating algorithmic recommendations or circumventing rate limits
- Collect, harvest or scrape handles, public profile data, follower or following lists, or any other data from the Service by automated means
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except to the extent expressly allowed by Slovenian or EU law (e.g. Directive 2009/24/EC Article 6 interoperability exception)
- Attempt to probe, scan or test the security of the Service, or to bypass authentication, rate limits or quotas
- Resell the Service, your account, or any cloud-stored vlogs
- Use the Service in any way that would violate Apple's App Store guidelines, applicable export-control laws, or sanctions
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, and we may remove offending Content without prior notice. For serious or repeated violations — including patterns of harassment, impersonation or coordinated inauthentic behaviour — we may also report the matter to law enforcement and cooperate fully with any resulting investigation.
10. Reporting content and users
10.1 Reporting illegal or harmful content
If you believe Content on the Service is illegal — or if it constitutes harassment, hate speech, non-consensual intimate imagery, the sexual exploitation or abuse of minors, or incitement to violence — please report it to [email protected] in line with the Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, "DSA"). You may also use the in-app report button on any public vlog, comment, or public profile. Please include:
- A precise description of the Content and where it can be found (a direct URL or in-app path)
- A clear explanation of why you believe it is illegal or harmful
- Your contact details
- A statement that the information you provide is accurate and made in good faith
We will acknowledge your report within 24 hours where possible, decide within 7 days whether to act, and inform you of our decision and the reasons for it. Where we remove or restrict Content, we will provide a statement of reasons to the user concerned, as required by DSA Article 17. We maintain an internal complaint-handling mechanism: if you are dissatisfied with our decision, you may escalate in writing to [email protected] and we will review the matter within 14 days.
10.2 Reporting abusive social behaviour
If another user is harassing, stalking, impersonating or otherwise abusing you through the Service's social features — including through comments or by tagging you — you may (a) block the user directly (see §4.5), (b) report their profile, a specific vlog or a comment using the in-app report button, or (c) write to [email protected]. We investigate all reports and may warn, suspend or permanently terminate accounts that engage in abusive behaviour.
10.3 Transparency and DSA compliance
Traulo operates as an online platform under DSA Article 3(i) to the extent it allows users to disseminate content to the public. We comply with the DSA obligations applicable to our scale. Traulo is operated by a micro enterprise within the meaning of Commission Recommendation 2003/361/EC, so the additional obligations that the DSA reserves for larger platforms and marketplaces (Articles 19 and 29) do not currently apply to us; we nevertheless keep the notice, statement-of-reasons and internal-complaint commitments in this Section, and we explain in §8.10 who the hotel and our booking partner are when you book a stay. We do not meet the thresholds for "very large online platforms." Where applicable law requires it, we publish moderation statistics in a transparency report at www.traulo.com/transparency.
11. Copyright complaints
If you believe Content on the Service infringes your copyright, write to [email protected] with:
- Identification of the copyrighted work
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and where it can be found
- Your contact details
- A good-faith statement that you are the rightsholder or authorised to act on their behalf
- A statement that the information is accurate, signed (electronic signature acceptable)
We will respond within 7 days. We may remove or restrict the material pending review. The affected user may submit a counter-notice; if they do, we will notify you and may restore the material if you do not bring the matter before a competent authority within 14 days.
This procedure follows the Digital Single Market Directive (EU) 2019/790 as implemented in Slovenia.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see Settings → Account → Delete my account).
We may suspend or terminate your account, with notice where practicable, if:
- You materially breach these Terms, the Privacy Policy or applicable law
- We are required to do so by law or by a competent authority
- You have not used your account for 24 months or longer (in which case we will email you first and only proceed if you do not reactivate)
On termination, the licences you grant us under Section 4 end (subject to backup rotation), and we erase your personal data per our Privacy Policy.
Admin access to stored content. In the course of investigating reported content, responding to a valid legal order, or diagnosing a technical fault at your request, authorised staff may access cloud-stored vlog files. All such accesses are logged and audited. Full details are in our Privacy Policy §5.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all express and implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure
- Defects will be corrected
- AI suggestions will match your editorial intent
- The Service will be available in any particular territory
We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services, booking partners or external websites that the Service may link to or suggest — including the booking suggestions and affiliate links described in §8.9 and the huts' websites described in §4.10 — nor for the accuracy of third-party map, trail, terrain, weather and place data (§4.10). Their offerings, prices, availability and policies are theirs alone, and any dealings you have with such a provider are solely between you and that provider. For a stay booked inside the app (§8.10), the hotel provides the accommodation and our booking partner places the booking; we are responsible for presenting the room, the price and the cancellation terms accurately, not for the stay itself.
Weather. Weather in the Service is provided by Apple Weather. YOUR USE OF THIS REAL TIME WEATHER GUIDANCE APPLICATION OR WEBSITE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. WEATHER DATA MAY NOT BE ACCURATE. Weather, storm and "back by" lines are planning aids, not safety or emergency warnings; always check official warnings.
This Section does not exclude or limit any warranty or right that cannot be excluded under Slovenian consumer protection law (ZVPot-1), including the warranty of conformity for digital content under ZVPot-1 Articles 90 and following.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data or business interruption.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Gross negligence (huda malomarnost) or intent (naklep) under Slovenian Code of Obligations (OZ) Article 242
- Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including under Slovenian consumer protection law
If you are a consumer and Slovenian or EU consumer protection law gives you greater rights, that law prevails over this Section.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Slovenia, without giving effect to any conflict-of-laws principles.
The courts of Slovenia have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of these Terms, subject to:
- Mandatory consumer protections — if you are a consumer domiciled in another EU member state, you may also bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence under Article 18 of Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012 (Brussels I bis Regulation). We may sue you only in your country of domicile.
- Mandatory rules of your country of residence under Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 593/2008 (Rome I) cannot be derogated from by these Terms.
Out-of-court dispute resolution
Please write to [email protected] first — most problems are solved there. If we cannot settle a consumer dispute between us, you may refer it to an out-of-court consumer dispute resolution provider under the Slovenian Out-of-Court Resolution of Consumer Disputes Act (ZIsRPS); the list of recognised providers is kept by the Slovenian ministry responsible for consumer protection. If we reject your complaint, we will tell you which provider is competent and whether we agree to take part. We are not currently committed to using a specific provider. (The European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform, which earlier versions of these Terms mentioned, closed on 20 July 2025.) Your right to go to court is unaffected.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do:
- We publish the new version on
www.traulo.com/terms, with a new effective date and a permanent archive of previous versions. - For material changes, we will ask you to review and accept the updated Terms in the app before you continue using the Service. We give you reasonable advance notice when feasible.
- For non-material changes (typos, clarifications) we publish without asking for re-acceptance.
We keep a permanent record of which version you accepted and when.
If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using the Service and delete your account; for paid subscriptions, you may be entitled to a pro-rata refund where the change reduces functionality you paid for, in line with ZVPot-1. For one-time AI vlog packs, any quota you have already paid for remains usable on the terms in effect at the time of purchase.
17. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and any plan-specific terms shown in the app form the entire agreement between you and us.
- Severability. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond reasonable control.
- Notices. We may notify you by email, by an in-app message, or by posting on the Service. You can notify us at
[email protected].
18. Contact
For any question about these Terms:
- Email:
[email protected] - Post: Računalniške storitve REK, Mihael Rek s.p., Ulica heroja Jevtiča 5, 2000 Maribor, Slovenia
- Imprint: https://www.traulo.com/imprint
These Terms are also available in Slovenian at https://www.traulo.com/terms?locale=sl. In case of any discrepancy between the English and Slovenian versions, the Slovenian version prevails for users domiciled in Slovenia.
